We found our second cache today, excellent fun.
It turns out we were the First To Find (FTF) this cache ever which is apparently quite a rare thing to manage to do!It's amazing how you can go less than a mile from where you live and find a place you've never been to before.
This cache had a fun suprise ending.

We started off in the car with the geko pointing its arrow. We had considered walking from the start because this cache was apparently less than a mile away from us. It's a good job we took the car though, because the busy dual carriage way means that a big diversion would be necessary from our direction and because we weren't looking at any maps it took us a while to figure out where the park entrance was.
About 30 mins later we were parking near to the park, which wasn't where we had guessed it would be. (maps are boring eh?)

now it appeared we must only be a short walk away...

Sometime later...Hey what about down this little path?

10 minutes later we were at the cache and a fun filled cache it was too. We took the cache a little distance away from its hiding place to investigate the contents and write our log in the log book.
We took a small china dog and replaced it with a toy car and we also picked up our first geo bug hitchhiking toy (another toy car) which we will place in another cache soon so that it can continue its travels.
On the way back we passed two likely looking geocachers who looked like they may be also on the track, but who knows, maybe they were just walking their dogs...We'll see if they log anything later. I thought there was a slightly knowing glance...
Overall an excellent geocache and put us in the mood for more after lunch... |
